about

Originally released as a CDR on Heresee Records, "Dielectric Lull" was created by Leslie Keffer with mostly radios (in a small town with few radio signals), voice, and electronics. This long out of print 2003 release functions as something of a thesis statement for her ongoing, consistent work with radios, both as a solo artist and a touring member of Laundryroom Squelchers. The cover art was created by a friend, Tyson Noble, and Leslie now has it as a tattoo, so it's a highly personal release in a few ways.

Leslie had this to say about her work with radios:

"I was obsessed with radios because I could channel the energy and frequencies of the room, people's energy, the surrounding energy and radio transmissions from all over-- energy and frequency. I could really tune in to the emotions of the room, and I think that resonated with people. I can hear entities projecting themselves into me through it and channeling their energy into sound waves. complete communion with the aether."

"I recorded it over a couple months in summer of '03. I would stay up all night to get the good static and entity transmissions and just sing loops over it. All of it is improv and recorded live straight to mini disc."

Since 2003, Keffer has toured and performed at numerous noise fests, and collaborated with some of the bigger names in the genre.

After a traumatic event forced her into an extended hiatus, she has slowly begun reestablishing her status as an experimental artist. She is also doing digital collage with AI Art to express highly personal concepts as they relate to her history of physical and emotional trauma.

Her work can be found on bandcamp under her name as well as at WEATNU records. Her Art Book, "My Body, My Temple" can be found at Amazon.
